Your first job as a technical clerk without experience

Many companies in Flanders are looking for technical clerks they can train themselves. They look less at your CV and more at your motivation and eagerness to learn. Whether you are a student, just out of school, or considering a career change: there are opportunities.

What exactly does a technical clerk do?

As a technical clerk, you support production processes. Think of assembling parts, quality control, setting up machines, or order picking in a warehouse. The work is varied and you learn on the job. Because every sector has different machines and procedures, employers are happy to invest in your on-the-job training.

Why experience is often not a requirement

In many technical roles, experience is not a hard requirement. Employers offer internal training and guidance. Especially for student jobs or flexi jobs, enthusiasm comes first. This way you grow quickly in your role and build valuable technical knowledge.

Three strengths you do need

• Accuracy: technical work requires attention to detail.
• Sense of responsibility: you often work with expensive machines or materials.
• Flexibility: shift work or weekends are common.

Show these qualities in your application and you significantly increase your chances.
